One face breaks into a crowd of faces, mouths open, eyes doubled, each fighting to be heard over the others. The words at the edges, one language turned backward and one spelled straight through, are the two ways the noise finally found its way out.وجهٌ واحدٌ يتشظّى إلى حشدٍ من الوجوه، أفواهٌ مفتوحةٌ وعيونٌ مضاعَفة، كلٌّ منها يُصارع ليُسمَع فوق صخب البقية. أمّا الكلمات على الأطراف، لغةٌ مكتوبةٌ بالمقلوب وكلمةٌ أخرى مكتوبةٌ على استقامتها، فهما الطريقان اللذان وجد بهما الضجيجُ أخيرًا مخرجه.
Made while listening to music that named the feeling before the painting did. If a painting can make it easier to talk about what is loud inside a head, it has already done its work.
رُسمت هذه اللوحة على أصواتٍ سمّت الشعور قبل أن تُسمّيه اللوحة نفسها. وإذا كانت اللوحة تُسهّل الحديث عمّا يعلو صخبه داخل الرأس، فقد أدّت وظيفتها فعلًا.
