Sanad Alrashidi (S.R.)سند الرشيدي (س.ر)
Sanad Alrashidi is the name on the documents. S.R. is the name on the paintings. This page is where the two sign together: one person who studies economics at Boston University, paints crowded faces in thick black line, writes in two languages, and builds a world named Lytherra. He has been building since he was nine. None of it is a hobby escorting a career. It is one practice with several instruments. سند الرشيدي هو الاسم في الوثائق، وس.ر هو الاسم على اللوحات. وهذه الصفحة هي الموضع الذي يوقّع فيه الاسمان معًا: شخصٌ واحد يدرس الاقتصاد في جامعة بوسطن، ويرسم وجوهًا مزدحمةً بخطٍّ أسود غليظ، ويكتب بالعربية والإنجليزية، ويبني عالمًا اسمه ليثيرّا. وهو يبني منذ كان في التاسعة. وليس شيءٌ من ذلك هوايةً ترافق مهنةً، بل هو ممارسةٌ واحدة بأدواتٍ عدّة.

The mind has no picturesعقلٌ بلا صور
S.R. has aphantasia: the mind holds no pictures. Nothing is seen before it is made. A painting is not copied out of an inner image; it is found on the surface, stroke answering stroke, and the artist meets the work in the same moment the viewer does. What the mind withholds in pictures it returns in parallel: several lines of thought run at once, and the practice exists so that each line can be handed its own instrument. لدى س.ر أفانتازيا: عقلٌ لا يحمل صورًا. لا شيء يُرى قبل أن يُصنع. اللوحة لا تُنسَخ من صورةٍ داخليّة، بل يُعثر عليها على السطح، ضربةً تجيب ضربة، فيلتقي الفنّان بالعمل في اللحظة نفسها التي يلتقيه فيها الناظر. وما يمسكه العقل من الصور يردّه توازيًا: خطوطُ تفكيرٍ عدّة تجري معًا، والممارسة قائمةٌ ليُعطى كلُّ خطٍّ أداتَه.
The Project of Synthesisمشروع التوليف
A think tank in the older sense: a place where an idea is held long enough to develop, then given whatever form carries it best. It runs on four arguments, and each one is worked as an essay, a painting, and a poem. مركز تفكيرٍ بالمعنى القديم: مكانٌ تُمسَك فيه الفكرة طويلًا حتى تنضج، ثم تُعطى الشكل الذي يحملها خير حمل. ويجري على أربع حجج، وكلُّ واحدةٍ تُشغَل مقالةً ولوحةً وقصيدة.
